Left in 1954 - first job at Electrolux Luton - obtained shorthand and typing experience finishing as Secretary to the Transport Manager in 1959. Married and had 5 children and moved around the country with a husband in banking. Memories of school were very positive - played piano for assemblies etc. and Captain of the netball team. When I told the headmaster, Mr. Broad, that my ambition was to be in an office (typewriting being my one skill I wanted to learn) he told my mother that if that was my ambition, I was at the wrong school!!). No regrets now as my skills in typing and playing the piano have been very useful as a parent (especially being a "piano lady" in various schools.) Now in retirement in delightful Beverley in Yorkshire - still with the same husband and seven grandchildren. Keep in touch with Sue Mills (nee Atkinson) and Johnny Wallis. Where are all the other members of class 1947-1954? Have we any in Yorkshire? |
